Several citizens of Lac-Saint-Jean are shaken by the death of a well-known and appreciated real estate broker Alma, who died struck by COVID-19 less than ten days after testing positive.

For those close to him, André Tremblay is not a statistic. The total number of COVID-19-related deaths now stands at 6,774 in Quebec, but week after week more familiar faces are added to the list.

In more than 40 years of career and a quarter of a century in the commercial sector, the broker has marked many people as testimonies have been pouring in since the announcement of his premature departure.

André Tremblay received a positive screening on November 10. Very ill, he was hospitalized two days later. On November 13, he himself posted a message to say that his condition was stable. “Those who think COVID is a joke, tell me about it! »He wrote before being silent. On November 14, a transfer was necessary between Alma and Chicoutimi after a meteoric progression of the disease. His death was pronounced on Thursday, November 19. Less than ten days and the virus got the better of the septuagenarian.

Funny and endearing

“Everyone in Alma knew and loved André. It was like a personality here. He was funny, endearing, a gentleman! There were still some skeptical people, but now everyone reacts by telling themselves that it really exists. It is serious ! »Explained a friend, Silvie Jauvin.

André Tremblay is survived by his two children, Mélanie and Guillaume, as well as a whole community. A citizen even left flowers on a real estate poster of the deceased, Friday, boulevard Talbot, in Saguenay.

The fight against the coronavirus remains difficult in Saguenay – Lac-Saint-Jean. For a second day, the bar of 200 new cases of COVID-19 was shattered on Friday.

Critical situation

The region recorded 213 new cases, just below the all-time high of 241 new infections seen on Thursday.
