A fire broke out Sunday morning on Chabot Street, in the borough of Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie, in Montreal.
According to preliminary information from the Montreal Fire Department (SIM), the blaze started early in the morning at the back of a two-story building.
One person was transported to a hospital center and five families found themselves on the street, also indicated Louise Desrosiers, spokesperson for SIM.
Security perimeters have been erected on Chabot Street and in the adjacent lane.
The fire is now under control, the SIM spokeswoman confirmed.
Montreal police have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the event.
