Humanitarian Access Scholarship at Melbourne University in Australia 2021

The University of Melbourne invites applications for the Melbourne Humanitarian Access Scholarship for undergraduate studies in 2020/2021 academic year.

This scholarship is subject to the Coursework Scholarships Terms and Conditions. In addition, you must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate course at the University of Melbourne as an international student. If you are granted an Australian permanent visa, the scholarship will cease. The scholarship can be deferred to the following year if there are compassionate or compelling circumstances that prevent you from commencing your course in the year for which the scholarship was offered.

Worth of Award

  • a living allowance of $5,000 per year (paid in two instalments in April and September) for up to the standard full-time duration of your course.
  • a full fee remission for the normal full-time duration of your degree course

Eligibility

Available to talented undergraduate or graduate students who have applied for asylum in Australia.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

Undergraduate applicants

  • have applied for or be the holder of an Australian temporary protection (or asylum) visa
  • have completed Australian Year 12 or International Baccalaureate in Australia
  • have applied for a University of Melbourne undergraduate course via VTAC for commencement in the year following completion of Australian Year 12 or International Baccalaureate
  • satisfy the course prerequisites and have achieved at least the minimum ATAR score for the University of Melbourne course
  • not have undertaken any tertiary studies (excluding extension studies completed as part of a Year 12 program).

Graduate applicants

  • have applied for or be the holder of an Australian temporary protection (or asylum) visa
  • have applied for a University of Melbourne graduate degree by coursework
  • satisfy the course prerequisites and have achieved at least the minimum entry score for the University of Melbourne course

How to Apply

You must submit an online application form by the closing date. As part of the application you will need to attach evidence of your current visa status and provide a brief statement on how the scholarship will benefit you.
